Trent Herring
Trent was born and bred in Manly on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. He has been involved in Surf Life Saving since he was a Nipper at the age of 5 right up to today. Trent was born into a family of Life Savers with both his Dad, Bob Herring & Grandfather Jim Coates both Life Members of Manly Life Saving Club. Although Trent pursued other sports in addition to Surf Life Saving like Kayaking, Boxing, Rugby League & Rugby Union, Trent has still spent most of his life at the beach whether it be paddling, swimming, surfing or running so if you head to Manly Beach on the weekend there is a good chance you will see him there.
Trent has impeccable knowledge of the surf and has a unique way of teaching it to young children, including his own. Trent is married and has 3 young boys aged 6,4 & a new addition who arrived this year. Trent hopes that his boys will inherit the gene that has been passed down for generations.
Trent holds a Level 2 surf coach accreditation and Trent is the current Surf Sports Head Coach at Manly Life Saving Club and surf & fitness coach of Naomi Flood and has been for the past 2 years. Since their partnership began, Naomi has gone onto win The 2009 Nutri Grain Iron Woman Series for the first time and can add a number of Australian & World Iron Woman Titles to her belt. She is also the newest member to the 2010 Australian Kayak Team.
Naomi Flood
Naomi at just 24 years of age has accomplished more in her short years than some have done in their lifetime. She is a former Nutri Grain Iron woman Champion, Current World Iron Woman Champion & Current World Surf Ski Champion. Naomi is well known around Australia, especially in her local town of Manly. She has a friendly nature and is looked up to by many young, aspiring kids. Naomi’s dedication and discipline to her chosen sport of Surf Life Saving is second to none. Most mornings she is up at 5:00am to go swimming or kayak training, then off to work, then back to training – this time at the beach or gym.
Naomi’s dream is to see up and coming athletes be able to stay in their chosen club here in New South Wales and have the depth and competition to match it with the Clubs in Queensland. She hopes to teach young athletes through Paddle Punch Sports Development the skills of the Ocean and Ironman racing.
